Vatican-dress attire

Hello,
I wanted to know if it is okay to wear jeans in the Vatican City sites. I know you have to wear long pants but i don't see anything about jeans.
Appreciate the feedback.
Thanks,
Martin

Jeans are OK as long as length is below the knees.

I wore jeans in there more than a couple times with no problems ... just make sure your shoulders are also covered and you'll be fine.

The above information is correct. But please don't be surprised if the guard lets in women in short skirts. On our trip in June 2001 some ladies with short skirts were accepted. As the crowds are thick maybe (?) the guard overlooked them.

I would suggest a simple floor length black dress and wimple.

I think some of the guards are stricter than others. I did not have any problems getting in with long pants and a t-shirt which just covered my shoulders. Upon leaving, however, (after the guards changed) I saw a couple of other women in similar attire turned away.

Dsquared's F/W 05/06 collection is based entirely upon religion and all things religious. How fitting.

Jeans are fine, once they come down over your knees, and remember to cover your shoulders.

I don't know -- last summer my husband couldn't get in the chuch for wearing jeans cut below the knee. For men, they wanted the whole leg covered, any jeans cut above the ankle were considered shorts.

Btw, if you're wondering about the Florence Duomo, there was no dress code. We saw people in shorts short skirts, and short sleeves.
