Hello all,
I will be in Amsterdam in a month. How easy is it to get tickets for the Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House or do you reccomend me getting them in advance.
Does anyone know if they are close to each other?
Thanks!

If you are going to be there next month suggest you get a good street map now - so you can plot locations - esp in relation to your hotel.
Don't know how long you will be there - or your flexibility. If your time is limited I would try for advance tickets to whatever biggies you want to see.
You can certainly reserve the Frank house on-line and I would do so; it is HUGELY popular.
The only time I had to wait to get into the Van Gogh was on a day when a cruise ship was docked and the place was MOBBED.
They are 2.8 Km from one another on foot; you can use trams to minimize the walking and you can see them both is you use Google and the mapping function
I was in Amsterdam in April, with advance tickets we walked right in the Anne Frank House, past a long line of people without tickets. So, It would make sense to purchase on line.
The Van Gogh Museum is closed until 25 April but many works from the museum are on display at the Hermitage. Info about its location is on www.vangoghmuseum.nl
i was there last april. didn't buy the ticket in advance. bought at the entrace. he is one of my favorite artists. enjoy!
So it sounds like Van Gogh Museum will be closed whenyou are there, but to answer your question, advance tickets are not necessary, especially at that time of year.
We went at the end of July and even in peak season, it was easy to get into both places. Especially if it's raining.
We were there in September and had the great good fortune to rent an apartment across the canal from the Anne Frank House, so we saw the line at various hours every day for 10 days. I would definitely get tickets in advance -- line was long at all hours. We bought tickets in advance and went right in.
Since both are covered under the Netherlands National Museum Card for free entry buy that car cause if going to just a few other museums it will pay for itself and be valid for a whole year of visiting zillions of museums you never would have paid for perhaps - like so so many in Amsterdam itself - Rubens House, Dutch Resistance Museum; Rijksmuseum, the Amsterdam bracnh of St P{etersburg's Hermitage, the fascinating Lord in the Attic Church, Modern Art Museum (stedelijk), etc.
And I believe you get some kind of priority entrance skipping ticket lines at most places - not Anne Frank House however though you can make reservations with the pass online I understand.
Ever wonder WHY some venues even OFFER tickets on line????
We walked by long lines of people waiting to enter the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh because we'd bought our tickets online in advance. We went right in.

Official site of National Museum Card for The Netherlands. If going to other Dutch towns you can of course use it there as well - like in The Hague for the Mauritshuis or Utrecht's National Railway Museum.
I was in Amsterdam a year ago in February. During morning/early afternoon, the lines for Anne Frank were outrageous and didn't seem to move at all. I went back in the late afternoon though and didn't have to wait long before getting in.
thanks!
