VALENCIA--questions
Hola! I have just booked four nights in Valencia, staying at the Westin Hotel at a very good, pre-booked rate. I request help from our esteemed Valencia expert(s)!!
Much of the impetus for the visit comes from a desire to sample the delicious rice-based dishes of the region. I have spent hours reading various guidebooks and food sites and have the names of two restaurants, both located south of the city, that we might like to try. I would love to read comments on these.
I also need to find a way to get there from central Valencia.
These are the two restaurants:
1. La Matandeta in Alfafar http://www.lamatandeta.es/?page_id=16
http://www.verema.com/restaurantes/3...andeta-alfafar
2. L'Establiment no website; near the village of El Palmar on Camino de l'Estell
http://www.verema.com/restaurantes/3...ment-el-palmar
Options appear to be:
1. Taxi--how much would this cost?
2. Bus--Autocares Herca But I cannot figure out if this bus line makes stops near either of the two restaurants. Here is their timetable:

3. Valencia Tourist Bus This may stop near one or both restaurants. But I am not sure.

4. The "yellow bus" that travels from the city to the beaches. Would this take me near either restaurant? (La Matandeta appears to be inland between El Saler and Pinedo--I guess we could ask the driver to stop along the road nearest the restaurant...(??)
Does this bus run in late February?

ekscrunchy.. I think a taxi is close to 30 Euros out that far. Maybe more. One of the tourist bus loops goes to El Palmar. I assume it is running in Feb.
The other regular bus will leave you at a crossroad then a loooong walk .. not sure how long.. over a mile or so.
Please contact me at my screen name at yahoo dot com.. would love to try to help you out.
I have just tried to call them ( 9 pm) and no answer to ask them about the transportation.. I wonder if in the winter they only open on weekends.. might be so.

30 euros each way is a bit pricey! We will have to find another way, even if we have to make the walk from the bus stop..
I wrote you an e-mail; I am so grateful for all the help you have offered.
I realize that I do seem a bit overly obsessed with the food aspect of the trip..but as long as we are traveling so far, we should find the best local dishes! I also like the idea of seeing a bit of the countryside outside the city; we will look at this as an adventure.
