Valencia or Barcelona

What would people suggest for a honeymoon trip to Spain. Looking for night life, but also beach atmosphere. Not anything to touristy.

I was also trying to decide between Barcelona and Valencia and opted for Barcelona.
I have read dozens of guidebooks and asked questions on this forum - It seems that Barcelona is more cultural whereas Valencia is more commercial.
I only have five days in Barcelona and am trying to pare down my itenerary because I have found that there is some much that I want to see.

barcelona should win hands down- lots of beach towns but most of them will be touristy. head to the mountains and find an inn with a pool if you really want to avoid tourists.

Valencia is nice, but it was mainly a commercial city with huge industrial base till few years ago. I always enjoy the cathedral, central market, royal garden, theatre, river park and the promenade by the harbours, especially the food, and the little section of old town. But there is so much more to see/do in Barselona for tourists. Besides, except going to tapas,or some odd concerts, there isn't really lots night life in Valencia. I have spent so many nights reading books in hotel room.

I just returned from a 10-day tour of Spain - we stayed in Madrid, Valencia & Barcelona (as well as a few other cities in between).

I agree with the prior posters, that Barcelona wins hands down if I had to choose between the two. Our tour guide recommended the Artes Hotel if you were looking for a great 5-star.

Since it's your honeymoon, I'd consider a few romantic days in the town of Cuenca (although it is probably 3 or 4 hours from Barcelona). The hotel Parador was incredible and the city beautiful.

Although we didn't pass through, the tour guide also recommended Miravet for a romantic few nights.
