That will cover most things, it depends on where you will eat and how often.
For that money you could have an excellent dinner, and no other meals, again, assuming that breakfast is included in your hotel rate.
If you budget at this price, and can afford to do so, then find that it is actually considerably cheaper, then you will have some spare change and not lost anything.

I clicked off too soon....
The original poster asked about $175 a day for two. If he/she means a total of $175 for the two time, it'll be awfully tough to keep within that budget. If he/she means $175 apiece, then they'll be okay.

I was going to say, 80 USD a day per person isn't extravagant, it seems about right for someone with budget to moderate tastes. If you allow about 15 USD for the transportation and entry fees, that's only 65 USD for three meals, and I suppose drinks and probably any other small items not included in the major expenses, such as newspapers, magazines, etc. That is not expensive to me, and I'm not a big spender particularly.

That should be plenty for 2 people per day. We usually budget around $100-$125 per day for 2 people and this includes transportation, breakfast, a few coffee/wine stops, admissions and dinner (a sit down dinner, not take away). Some days we spend more, and some days we spend less. There is a wide range of dining opportunities in Paris, you can eat well for as little or as much as you want to spend.

Apparently we all have differing spending habits. For my wife and I, $175 a day total for transport, meals, and museum entries would be very extravagant. But we do normally seek out neighborhood restaurants away from the more heavily tourist impacted areas for our evening meals--that helps a lot. It's unusual for us to spend over $40 or $50 for dinner--and there are many nice places to dine in Paris in that price range, or less. Note that we aren't big boozers at dinnertime--a glass of wine each generally satisfies us.

As you are seeing from the responses everyone travels different. To me that seems just about right. I personally spend less on museums and transporation and more on wine in sidewalk cafes. You can adjust as needed by eating inexpensive one meal and spluring the next. Metro instead of a taxi. Sandwiches to go and take them to the park. If you want to eat high-end guidebook listed starred restaurants, then you would spend more than that.

We usually travel on about $100/day for the two of us for food and eat quite well. If we eat at the hotel for breakfast that is $15. Lunch is $15-20 and our dinner choices are usually in the $25/person range. As someone said, some days it is a little more and sometimes less. We are taking our children and spouses to Paris for a week this fall and that will be our budget/couple. Breakfast is an expensive meal for what you get. We have taken to going to a cafe and just having coffee and a croissant for about 5E for both of us.

Hi awp,
You can have a Croissant & Cafe creme for bkfst for 3E , a 2 course lunch for for 9-13E, and a 2 course dinner for 20-25E.
Transportation is 2-4E.
Buy a museum pass if you will be doing all of them.
Use the rest of your budget for the afternoon aperitif from 4:30-6:00 at a cafe, crepes, ice cream and souvenirs.
Enjoy your trip.

Ooops, I misread the original post. Forget everything I wrote!
$175 per day for the two of you should be okay for transportation (minimal cost), museums ($15-20 apiece at most if you buy a pass, leaving at least $120 for food.
