Hi, Sharon,
There is direct service from the station at Gatwick to Oxford several times a day, otherwise a more frequent service via Reading. All the information you will likely need is at http://www.railtrack.co.uk/index.htm

Do not panic. Gatwick is a civilized airport. Once you clear customs and immigration, look for the signs and pictographs for the train. I've always arrived at the north terminal, and just past immigration is a booth where you can buy train tickets. Nice man will help you. The www.britrail.com site shows a couple of trains with no change to Oxford, others with a change at Reading.
Depending upon the duration of your pass and what other train trips you're planning, you may not want to use the pass for the trip to Oxford, but opt to buy a point-to-point ticket instead.
Hope this helps - and enjoy the UK.
