The strikes will take place in all areas of AENA (the Spanish airport authority):
February: On October 11 to 13 hours.
March: The 10th of 15-24 hours. 24-hour strike on 19 and 22.
April: The 1st of 15-24 hours. 24-hour strike 2.5 and 6. On 30 15-24 hours.
May: 24-hour strike on 14 and 17 (affects only the centers of Madrid).
June: On 3 15-24 hours. 24-hour strike on 4.7 and 30.
July: Strike 24 hours on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 15 and 31.
August: Strike 24 hours on days 1, 2, 14, 30 and 31.
Strikes is all about the forthcoming privatization of AENA.

Thanks Ribeira--we were recently thinking of moving our trip up to May. Nice of them to give us advance notice of which days the strikes will take place so we can plan around them.

Although it looks like these will end at the end of August, do you think they will later extend into October?

The strike in February will be on the 11th, from 10:00 to 13:00. And it looks like the strikes in July and August, the prime international travel season, will be nationwide.

I don't understand what some of this means. Does "The 10th of 15-24 hours" in March mean they will strike on March 10th from 3pm to midnight?

We have tickets for landing on March 23rd. Since they are striking on the 22nd, will everything be back to normal on the 23rd?

I am not familiar with how airport strikes work.

I think 15-24 hours does mean from 3 pm to midnight (it seems a little clearer if you read the original source in entirety, for example, it says 10.00 to 12.00 hours in one point, so that must be time of day). and that date isn't in the above, actually, it is next friday

Does anyone have experience with plane travel during an airport strike? Would it be reasonable for me to expect to land at the Madrid airport the day after a strike?

It's the airport employees who will be on strike, not the airlines. You should expect to find everything back to normal the day after the strike, more or less.

We'll be there in May. After my Paris experience of last year, I hope I don't screwed by another one of these. If so, I believe U.S. driving vacations could be in my future starting in 2016.

But if the planes cannot take off they could be in the wrong location so it may well have some sort of effect.
Spain has laws about striking. They have to give a minimum service. I think in this case they will have to supply 25% of the normal staff. The strikes are to coincide with the issuing of shares or news bulletins of the floating of the stocks. Hence the reason for so many.
I cannot find out if the air-controllers are involved or not. I assume that they are not for the time being.
Sorry about the mix up in the first post I had to rush so there was no time to review what I had typed. Besides I normally make typos.

So, based on these dates we should be fine flying into Spain and leaving back to the US. However, we do have a flight booked on Vueling from Granada to Barcelona on July 3. Does anyone know how early the airlines start making plans around these strikes?

it is not up to the airlines to make plans. The strikers will inform the company who is working and who is not. Then the company will allot times for airlines. I have never seen a magic code on how this is worked out.
If you can change your plans then it maybe advisable.

There is still time to call the strikes off.
