Unusual but interesting things to do in Stockholm
Hi,
I'll be traveling to Stockholm this coming July 18 - August 1 from Canada with my family which consist of 4 adults and we were hoping for a few suggestions for unusual but interesting things to do in Stockholm......the hidden Gems I guess you could say. All suggestions are appreciated.
Thanking all in advance...........

We enjoyed a dinner in the Great Square in the old town in a restaurant opposite the stock exchange. The Nobel Prize for Literature is announced there. Children were playing in the fountain directly in front of the restaurant with big squirt guns. Great fun for them and for us on the glassed in terrace.

the highlight for us was to catch a ferry to the island of vaxholm
it is beyond words beautiful
i didnt enjoy the tour 'under the bridges' - not after we went out to the archipelago proper
vaxholm offers the whole package- a real insight into how swedes spend their summers
there are good eateries
the most picturesque land/seascape and gorgeous cottages and gardens
it was a real find
catch the ferry from the harbour near gamla stan

The McDonalds (or was it BK?) at Slussen. Big Mac with a view over the illuminated harbor and old town.
The Swedish design shop at Segels torg (not exactly a "hidden" gem). Opposite of the Kulturhuset, if I remember correctly.
The art in the subway stations.

Parkteatern holds open air theatre shows/concerts troughout the summer in different areas in Stockholm. http://www.stadsteatern.stockholm.se...atern.asp&main
A boat trip out in the archipielago or to Drottningholm (a world heritage castle and where the royal family lives).
Take a dip, you can go for a swim in central Sthlm, for example Långholmsbadet or Smedsuddsbadet.
Take a stroll or have a picknick at Djurgården, very popular amongst stockholmers, there's a nice garden/cafe Rosendahls värdshus too. http://www.rosendalstradgard.se/sect...?id=0000000051
Tuesdays, allsång (community singing) at Skansen. Mostly Swedish artist performs in a tv-show and the audience sing along...Very crowded.
The Wasa museum
http://www.scandichotels.se/sjofartshotellet Sjöfartshotell, a small hotel in Södermalm that has a bar on top with a stunning view over Stockholm, Mose Backe another place nearby with beautiful views.
Nyfiken Gul, a small restaurant close to Eriksdalsbadet, near the water and where you grill the food yourself.
