UK Mobile phone useage in Italy (Network: Three)

Jump to last reply

We're off to Italy next week. I've rung my provider, Three, but not exactly sure I understand what they were saying. Thought I'd ask for personal experiences of Fodor travellers.

Basically, all I want to be able to do whilst on holiday is 'check-in' on Facebook at each place we go on our itinerary. I might want to post the odd picture or two, but I'm not very good at that. (My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S-III, haven't had it very long.)

Don't plan on using the phone for calls at all (unless there were an emergency) ... and might send the odd text which, according to Three's website, is 7.4p per message (sending).

Their charge for Internet & Data is 69.6p / MB and what I'm not clear about is - generally speaking - how much data does a MB contain?

Three has a £5/day useage deal which sounds kind of good.

The other thing I seem to have picked up is to definitely turn off Notifications (which I now receive on my phone for FB, Twitter, email, etc)

Can anyone out there give me a quick primer - in laymen's terms - on using my mobile phone abroad?

Grazia!
