UK: Knole & Chartwell (Kent)

Jump to last reply

I am staying in Greenwich (near the Cutty Sark DLR station) and want to visit some Kent homes: Knole & Chartwell. Chartwell opens at 11:00 am and has a limited number of timed tickets, so I think I should start there. Knole opens at noon and both close at around 5:30.

I will be taking public transportation so am hoping Fodorites can suggest the best way to get to these places, and in what order. I’ve researched myself and it looks like I should take the DLR to Lewisham and then get a Southeastern train to Sevenoaks? And then a bus or taxi from the station to Chartwell? And what do you recommend to get from Chartwell to Knole? I don’t mind a 15 minute walk but no longer than that (especially as I’ll be traipsing all around both estates). Buses are fine but I tend to get impatient so maybe taxis are the best bet for me. Roughly how much do you think they would cost for the various routes?

Thanks very much for your help!
