uffizi and David tickets flrorence

I am desperately trying to prebuy tickets for David and the Uffizi in Florence. I got an email from TicketItaly which is a PRIVATE firm that tacks on huge fees including extra foe special exhibits whether there is one OR even if you don't want to go. Can anyone help with the proper MUSEUM website to write to?? thanks so much.

The best thing to do is to call them at 011-39-055-294-883. You will get an English-speaking operator who can reserve both for you. It is only 3 Euro extra for this, which you only pay if you use the reservation.

Ditto suggestion from Susan P - This was/is Ira's suggestion. We followed it, we got our reservations - pick up the tickets when you get there (and don't pay until you pick up the tickets).

The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 3 euro for the servic

Or you can do what I did. I contacted the hotel I was staying at and they made the reservations for me.

I've done it two ways: called from within Italy a few days before we wanted to go and called from the US about 6 weeks before we wanted to go.

The first way was 3 yrs ago and it seems so much harder to get a reservation now, I would not adivse it. From the US was no problem; even with the cost of being put on hold for several minutes the final price still came out cheaper than paying the extra fees.

I should have added that we got our reservations at both by calling, but we did call several months before we went (late September). I understand that people trying to call for reservations at the last minute have not been successful for a while now.

We also called and eventhough we paid $3/min because we don't have an international calling plan, the $12 phone call was still cheaper than the fees the websites charge per ticket.

Our hotel in florence, HOtel Silla, offered to make the advance museum reservations for us, and I happily accepted. The hotel didn't charge for this service and they e-mailed me our reservation numbers. Now of course wen you arrive at the museums and you get inthe special short line for people with rreservations the museum can charge y0u a couple extra euros per ticket for the reservations but it's worth it. sometimes if it's not terribly busy they "waive" the extra fee which we lucked out and they did for us.
