We're spending Easter in Avila, then driving to Salamanca for a day or two, then Porto, Lisbon, and return to Madrid, April 1-15. Two couples in their 70s, not a lot of money. Ideas?

Right now the paradors, pousadas and pestana hotels are offering some very good bargins..Example Avila Parador.. Easter weekend
384 E/3nights for 2 with brkfst. Golden Age rates. Check out the deals.. pousadas.pt, paradors.es and pestanahotels.pt. We have always loved to stay in them and the are very, very nice. The new one in Porto is outstanding but I believe more $ but who knows. The parador in Salamanca is not very close to the old town and a newer one. I don't like it.
<Not a lot of money> You can view reviews and costs on this reliable site and make choices. Have fun, good luck. www.booking.com/avila www.booking.com/portugal
If you use this site, just make sure you have free cancellation and it is clearly defined.
P.S. We are two couples in their late 70's and will be in Spain in Aug/Sept.
When driving the Portuguese toll roads ensure you understand how to pay the electronically tagged tolls. Some toll roads have manned booths but these electronically one do not. Driving a Spanish car you have to pay the toll manually .
