Two September Nights In Verona

Having searched through previous posts, I learned that there has been little coverage on the subject of Verona Hotels now for some time..

This will represents the last two nights of a long itinerary and so we feel like a little luxury before travelling back to the other side of the Earth.

I took a look at Gabbia d'Oro, which I thought was just a little too expensive - but a lack of availability brought an immediate end to the temptation.

Please share your knowledge of the best hotels available in Verona ?

Thank you

There will be much more availability in September AFTER the opera festival is over around mid-month.

We've been to Verona every year for the past six years or so for that festival. We stay in the same hotel every year. I am not going to even attempt to tell you which one is "best" since your ideas of "best" may be very different than my own.

I suggest you look at the ratings on Tripadvisor.com or Booking.com (the latter "borrows" a lot of reviews FROM TripAdvisor).

Sorry but I didn't come here to read Tripadvisor or Bookings.com ratings. I have always enjoyed the views of Fodorites who come back year after year to particular restaurants and lodgings

Several years ago we spent three nights at the Hotel Siena, located about a ten minute walk from Piazza Bra. The property was extremely clean, the staff was friendly, the breakfast was generous, but the rooms were small. We also found several good restaurants nearby.

People watching in Piazza Bra seemed to be on of our favorite pass times.

Buon viaggio,

Good luck finding the "best" hotel, then. I hope it works for you.

People here are really confused about booking.com. The reviews that appear on its website are reviews solicited by booking.com via private e-mail to people who booked hotel rooms through their service and who were confirmed to have stayed in the hotel by the hotel. It's possible that many booking.com users also post their reviews on TripAdvisor, just with a copy & paste, or vice versa. But the business model of booking.com is heavily invested in "verified" reviews.

Good_Will, sorry to have interrupted your search and alas, I have yet to find a hotel in Verona I would recommend (never tried the Siena), so can't help you out other than to remind you that it can be hot in Verona for most of September so nailing down whether a hotel has reliable air con is something to consider if you hadn't thought of it.

I heartily recommend Ca' dell'Orto:

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...na_Veneto.html

Note that it is not in the center of town, but that's part of its charm. The 20- to 30-minute stroll along the riverside to the city center is a delight; if you prefer, the bus stops right outside the residence, or it's a quick and inexpensive taxi ride.

Best of all, this lovely place isn't too much of a splurge--I found their rates are very reasonable and their hospitality priceless.

We stayed at the Hotel Accademia last September. It is right in town and was really nice. They even have a nice breakfast in the morning. We would definitely stay there again.

Hi, Just popped into the forum to plan my next visit to Italy and saw your post. I was in Verona last summer and was thrilled to come across
http://cortedellepigne.it

It's a quaint little B&B in town-- not a luxury experience by any means, but I loved it. It was like having my own little apartment-- but with luxury linens, amenities, and a lovely family who was super helpful.

Very reasonable. Breakfast served each morning in the courtyard. Centrally located to walk anywhere-- and I did just that.

Best of luck!

We stayed in Cinque rooms about 2 summers ago. A very different hotel experience, but super luxurious and a lot cheaper than a 5star hotel. A very easy and pleasant walk to Piazza Bra and to San Zeno, where you'll find great places to eat.
