Gus O'Connors in Doolin is a very well known pub.

And you'll be talking "craic" with the locals more than smack.

I never visited a pub in Ireland that I didn't adore. Each one has their locals that are an absolute riot to talk with about local life. Somehow we managed to meet a bunch of hysterical locals in a pub on Sunday outside of Dublin in Malahyde - called the Cock and Bottle I believe. We listened to Irish music from a local group of players and talked for hours with folks from the city. It was a 20 minute drive from Dublin.

Not yet Bree...in about 57 days or so I put on my backpack, fall over backwards (think a guy yelling "timber!" and a slow groan before I creak and topple over like a tree), and hope for the best...

Have a great time in Ireland.

The most popular touristy fun pub in Dublin is Temple Bar. We had a great time there. The best local authentic Irish Pub would be Fox's pub. It is the highest pub in Dublin. It looked like something out of a movie. The best pub I have ever been to in my life. And have I been to a few.

Please don't "talk smack" in Dublin - smack is slang for heroin. Mulligan's in Poolbeg Street, Stag's Head in Dame Lane, The Long Hall in South Great Georges Street are great Victorian pubs and good places to meet locals. A bit out of the way, but well worth a visit if you like traditional music is The Cobblestone in Smithfield. For something more contemporary try Coccoon in the Royal Hibernian Way, SoSuMe or the Globe in South Great George's Street or the Octagon Bar in the Clarence Hotel in Temple Bar. Temple Bar itself is full of tourists - horrible British stag and hen parties mostly - but The Porterhouse is quite nice and they brew their own beer.
