Tuscany with a 5 year old. Where to stay?
We are travelling to Italy in May 2015. Our first 10 days will be spent in Rome, Positano and Sora (where my husband was born). Those days are with our "big" kids. Then we get to go to Tuscany for a week.
I've always dreamed of going to Tuscany although I don't have a specific place in mind. I've pictured staying in a small village/town, buying our food to cook each day, and just trying to soak in the culture.
Our reality will be a bit different in that there is a 5 year old involved. Do you have any suggestions as to where to stay? Either region or a place or both?
We have talked about taking day trips to see Florence or Pisa or Cinque Terre from wherever we stay.
Any advice is welcome!

Rather than where you stay, it's how you travel. Don't overdo on the museums and historical sites. Give the child down time. If renting a house or apt look for one with a pool.
Panzano in Chianti is a lovely small town. We have traveled a lot with kids and don't over do is the main recommendation.

May is too early for a pool. I would stay in a village or small town. Here is the best value in Tuscany.

I agree that Montepulciano would be a good choice. We stayed here and loved it:
