Tuscany where to stay ???

We now have 5 nights to spend in the Tuscany area .We were going to spend 4 nights in a villa in montepulciano and have added a night to be able to return the car on a Monday.(closed Sundays). We had planned to travel back north a couple of times to see, siena,Pisa, etc. .My question is should we base in sienna for two nights and then move south to montepulciano for three???We will be coming from lake como area.
thanks for any input.

What are the bookends to your Tuscany days? Where will you be before Tuscany? Where are you going after Tuscany? Where are you picking up and returning the car?

Jean,
We start in Geneva, visiting relatives, we were thinking of two nights in the lake como area, then on to Tuscany for 5 nights, we hope to get the car in como or Milan, then drop it off in chiusi and take the train to naples and transfer to positano for 4 nights and then to Rome for 4 nights and then back to the usa
thanks for your input/help

Nice trip!
I would get the car in Como and drive as far as the San Gimignano or Siena area for 2 nites and then to Montepulciano as your suggest. But, I would keep the car and drive as far as Sorrento to drop it. Why have the hassle of 3 train connections from Chiusi? The drive is almost all autostrada and will take about 5 hours, but on your own schedule.
