Tuscany Trip--where to stay for last two nites Lirici or Florence?
My wife and I are traveling to Tuscany for 8 days in June. We are flying into Florence from Zurich and staying 3 nites in Montepulciano, and 3 nites in Orvieto. After reviewing some comments and pictures on Lirici, I am very interested in staying there for our last two nites. Would it be worth the extra driving to stay in Lirici or should we stay with our plan in Florence for our last two nites? I could always change my reservations and start our trip in Tuscany in Lirici and move our way down to Orvieto...any thoughts or opinions would be welcomed!

Do you mean Lerici?
I personally would pick Florence, but perhaps you want to be near the sea. In that case, I think you might do better than Lerici.
I see that you are OK with Montepulciano, so steep streets are not a problem. Why not Portovenere? It's prettier.
Also, many people here would pick the Cinque Terre. Not me, but many do.
If you want art, the Florence. If you want the sea, then I would go with a town near Lerici, like Portovenere. The coast is prettier across the little Gulf of La Spezia.

Yes, we are going to Tuscany..we will be in Montepulicano + Orvieto for 6 days and I am currently planning on days 7-8 in Florence. To answer your question about Orvieto, we are confirmed to stay at Locanda Rosati and we plan on visiting some wineries/sites (e.g. Decugnano dei Barbi, Torre del Moro, etc.), adjacent village towns and caves in/around Orvieto and the Umbria region. Any suggestions on other things to do around Orvieto.
We are most likely going to stay the route in Tuscany, but I was intrigued by the beauty in the area around CT...perhaps next trip.

Thanks Bob!! Your photos of CT were beautiful and that's what has me second guessing my trip plans. Our last trip was amalfi coast and my wife is ready to explore central tuscany and inland villages this trip. We have heard wonderful things about Locanda Rosati, so Bob-thanks for reinforcing our choice--you have been a wealth of information on this site.
