Tuscany Hotel

Has anyone stayed at Castello di Velona outside of Montalcino?..We purchased a 5 night stay on a auction site..it looks luxurious, but would like some more feedback on the property.

If you type the name in the text search there are 2 other threads that ask for info about it with no responses.

There is one glowing review on tripadvisor that says it's better than the website

Here's the direct URL: http://www.castellodivelona.it/eng/

Looks to me like fairly decent place to stay

Could you post the auction site?

Here is the auction website:
Thhttp://www.luxurylink.com/e website

It has properties all around the world!! Castello di Velona looked really nice..and had a great location next to Montalcino and the Brunello vineyards. It is also next to a 12th-century abbey(Abbazia di Sant' Antimo) where the monks still belt out Gregorian chants.

Wow--saw that. Looks fantastic, but it was not there my last trip. It is a good :20 south of Montalcino very near St. Antimo. Have fun and report back.

Aaak! Make that La Calcina in Venice.

It may be rude of me for asking, but would you be willing to share the amount of your winning bid for Castello di Velona?

I am working with a travel planner from AMEX and she highly recommends it. I am staying there for one night in early October. Pretty pricey - I think my room is about $520 US. I have to ask what are they charging you?

WOW! $520 a night for a hotel room? I'm paying less than that for an apartment in Montepulciano for one week.

I would rather spend my money on food & wine. I don't have an unlimited amount of money to spend, so I prioritize. Food & wine in Tuscany are a great priority.
