Turku Restaurant Recommendation Needed

Hi-

In September, my wife and I are going to be visiting some long-time friends in Turku. We will be staying with one of them for 6-7 days and are thinking of taking her out to dinner one night.

Does anyone have a restaurant recommendation that will not break the bank?

I have not been in Turku in years, but I checked restaurant evaluations for you. It looks like Panimoravintola Herman got best rewievs.

Panimo means brewery, so they brew their own beer. It is situated by the river. And it looks like they were chosen 2003 Restaurant of the Year. http://www.ravintolaherman.com/herman.htm

hi Vic:

On our more recent visit to Turku while driving through Southern and Mid- Finland, we happened to be there during the Herring Festival aon the River (Aura?)..many of the boats also had restaurants on board. Check ou the river front...we opted for a recommended German/British/Finnish pub in town, at least 100 years old..Oscar's Place..excellent food choices and seemingly reasonable...dunno where he prices are now.

We stayed at the very cozy Park Hotel....here are a few selected pre-digital scanned photos of the country..be sure your friend takes you out to picturesque Naantali (see pix)..it's close to Turku, a little north.

Enjoy you visit!

Thanks, elina. Their TripAdvisor reviews <http://tinyurl.com/ct9yyx> are pretty good.

Do you possibly remember anything about their prices? (I know that eating out in Finland is pricy.)

Looks like it is on pricey side, but nothing extravagant.

If you click at the adress you find menu and prices (menu is in Finnish, Swedish and English). On lthe left: lounas = lunch, a la carte is of vcourse a la carte, ryhmämenu = menu for groups, viinilista = wine list, talon oluet = house beers. Umder pictures: alkuruokia = starters, keasvisruokia = vegetarian dishers, kalaruokia = fish dishes, liharuokia = meat dishes, jälkiruokia = desserts. menut = menus.
