Turkish Air and the fifteen hour layover.

Jump to last reply

I saw a few old posts on this airline but nothing new. We're planning a trip to Rome and all of the cheapest (by up to half) flights out of Boston stop in Instabul. Most of them are normal length layovers but I've seen a few longer ones. Has anyone flown with them recently and attempted to leave the airport to tour a bit? My aunt did it five or more years ago but she's a bit more adventurous. She even said you could get US visas in the airport, not sure if that's still the case!

Can you hire taxis from the airport to go to the Hagia Sophia or is it too far? I know in Paris it takes too long to go from CDG to downtown but Im completely unfamiliar with logistics here. It looked like 40 minutes via Google maps.
