Turkey/Greece trip- help with itinerary

Hi all,
I need your help, please.
Finally our summer trip to Turkey/Greece is shaping up...
We are arriving to IST on July 13th - am
Planning to fly to Cappadoccia July 16th at ~1900
Spending 2 nights in Goreme, ret a car there and
Leave for Konya on July18th.
Spend one night in Konya.
Leave July 19th am for Pamukkale
Spend 2 nights in Pamukkale
Leave on july21st for Kusadasi
We have 3 more nights left after that to decide where to stay.
We have to take ferry from Marmaris to Rhodes on July24th.
What do you think?
Would you change any part of the trip - flying instead of driving, skipping some parts or include others.
Also where would you spend 3 nights between Kusadasi and Marmaris?

This will be our 1st trip to Turkey. We love nature beauties, cultural and archeological sites...
Thank you,
P

We did the drive from Cappadocia to Ephesus in reverse. You might want to take a look at my trip report; click on my name to find it. Kusadasi did not look that appealing. I would rather stay in Selçuk, which is closer to what is the main attraction of the area: Ephesus.

Driving from Konya to Antalya, then on to Kas (great) then Marmaris was our route.

Piramidon, I will paste my TA response here for posterity or posteriority as Adu might say:

Well, I did ask for it; so cannot complain. Noblese d'oblige.

- You have enough time in istanbul to whet your appetite.

- Two nights in Cappadocia is fine if it also means two days, meaning, that, if you return car at kayseri airport late afternoon or evening of the second day and fly to Izmir ADM, as Davidm1 recommended.

This will save you from the dreary scenery around Konya and the depressingly conservative Konya city itself.

- Izmir airport to selcuk (ephesus) only 45 minutes driving on mostly motorway.

- One day, visit Ephesus, town, museum, basilica, mosque, possibly Sirince, possibly Mary's retreat, possibly Kusadai for beach.

- Second day AM drive to Aphrodisias and thence to Pamukkale making it there around or before sunset.for the glory.

- Third day, visit hieropolis in AM and drive through Kemer to Kas. or even Ucagiz.

- Fourth day take Kekova cruise (preferably from Ucagiz) and maybe visit Myra at Demre nearby

- Fifth day, visit Patara, Tlos, Saklikent,

- Sixth day drive to Marmaris to spen the last night in Bordubet or Orhaniye or Icmeler or Marmaris proper (blah) finding where to drop car and find the pier for the hydrofoil.

if that is too few days, add one at Kas.

Reminders:

It will be quite hot. Will need sunscreen, hats, towels to wipe sweat and swim at places like Patara and Kekova. Carry water on antique city visits like Ephesus and Aphrodisias.

Make sure car A/C works properly before driving off.

Buy mosquito repellent at any large supermarket or pharmacy (Off, Kov, or similar and also the kind you plug in to socket in your room like Raid, Esem, etc.)

They will stop allowing liquids on local flights in Turkey soon and will require zip lock bags for perfume and many cosmetics as in the States.

In Istanbul, make sure you spend a night at Reina or Sortie at Ortakoy/Kurucesme, and eat at Muze de Changa in Emirgan, possibly after visiting Sabanci museum.

At Selcuk, Nazhan Hotel, next to Bella will have its new and larger rooms ready. say hello to owner, Cemil from me. (we were founders of a political NGO in 1994 and also founders of a now defunct company called Black Sea Trade. Both sad stories)

Am I free to leave now?
