Marmaris, dalyan and similar resort/beach towns are rather desserted in April. I suggest that you spend your time around Ephesus with possibly Selcuk as base and visit the ruins at Priene, Miletus, Didyma, Aphrodisias, Hieropolis and Herakleia as well as the natural sites of Dilek national park, Dogan Bey village, Karine and the travertines of Pamukkale.
Saturday, April 7 will be the street market in Selcuk and you will see a wide variety of wild salad greens which you can have served at some restaurants like that of hotel Bella.
If you do not wish to spend so long in Selcuk, you may be able to find a direct flight to Kayseri and visit Cappadocia which is worth it even for 24 hours, before you get back to Istanbul.
Driving around Selcuk is easy and fun and you may not even need a GPS.
Try choep shish near Soke, and know that fish will be rather expensive except for farm sea bass or sea bream, which are fine grilled.
Here's a partial trip report for part of that area:

Thank you soo much! I think we are going to do exactly that and stay in selcuk and take day trips..we are also going to Konya so we will try to fit in cappadocia when we are there.
Your advice is much appreciated
