Turkey assistance

Hello.
My wife and I intend to visit Turkey for a week in mid-September.
The thought is to spend 2 or 3 nights in Cappadocia.
Can anyone tell us what is the most popular or efficient way to get from Istanbul to the Cappadocia region?
Thanks.

Fly from either IST or SAW to either Kayseri or Nevşehir with Turkish Airlines or Pegasus. See this website for options - http://www.bulucak.com

Nevşehir is closer to the centre of Cappadocia than Kayseri is for transfer times.

Airport transfer companies in Cappadocia:

And IST (Europena side) is probably easier to get to than SAW (Asian side) in Istanbul, though there are probably cheaper flights out of SAW.

If you are visiting the touristic part of Istanbul, IST (Ataturk International) IS FAR CLOSER, don't plan on getting to the other airport quickly. That is why it has cheaper flights - to attract customers because it is so far away it is practically unused compared to Ataturk.

You can also rent a car in Cappdocia. There are plenty of hotels, although very crowded in summer. I would recommend a cave hotel in Goreme. I've been twice. Uchisar is a place on the road between Goreme and Urgup - stop, go see Recep ("Reh Jeb") in the six story cave. It is a very long drive if you plan to bus or drive from Istanbul - Turkey looks small on a map, but is very mountainous; the post telling you to fly to Kayseri or Nevshehir is wise.

oh - and if you're interested in buying a carpet, WAIT until you get to Goreme. Istanbul dealers are extremely pushy. Goreme is much more relaxed about the whole thing.

If you can find a cheap THY flight from Atatürk (IST) to Nevşehir, that would be the preferred option.

oh and I am sorry I said Turkey looks small; you do not say where you are from. Most of my American friends think Turkey looks small - and the same for a place like Crete - and then they are amazed at the time it takes to travel from place to place, how complex a small part of the map truly is. Turkey seems huge to me now.

I agree Windscape that I thought Turkey was small until we just drove it. Returned last night from two fantastic weeks there and drove 10 of them.

My husband bought a carpet in Goerme and yes they are way less agressive than anywhere else.

we flew in and out of SAW but connected the way there so the transfer wasnt an issue but the flight was so cheap.

on the return we flew into SAW and the transfer to our hotel was 100Lira, when we departed to the main airport the transfer cost 50 lira. The price of the cheap flight more than made up for the 50 lira difference in transfer costs. ( $27)

Just came back from Turkey. I had 3 nights/4 days in Cappodocia and wish i had more time there. Flew Sun express from Izmir to Keysari and Pegasus airline from Keysari to SAW. Both airlines were very inexpensive but you have to go to the airline website to pick up the special deal.
Rented a ford midsize car from Economy car rental. Booked from the website the day before because they offered the most competitive rate. No problem with them. Had booked from National in other parts of Turkey thinking it's better with an international company. Not sure if those worries and the extra costs were necessary.
The roads in Turkey is excellent. If you like to like beautiful scenery, definitely go to Ihara valley, it's opened (maybe part of it is closed for hikers) and it's beautiful. We didn't get to hike the valley due to bad weather but really happy that we drove there.
We are already talking of going back.
