Turin: Have you used the Torino+Piemonte card?
I will be in Turin (Torino) in early September for 6 nights/5 days. I've read about the Torino+Piemonte card on the Torino Tourism website and there is a 5 day card for 35 euro which (as I read it) allows for free entry into a large number of museums. Most all of the museums I'm interested in going to are included in the card.
My question is, have any Fodorites who have been to Torino purchased this card and did you find it useful, or was there any difficulty using it? I'd prefer to have a card that included public transit but only the ones for shorter lengths of time (2 or 3 day cards) include transit, and I don't want to rush around trying to fit all I want to see in 2 or 3 days when I will be there for 5. So I thought I would purchase the 5 day card and then purchase a multi day or mulit ticket pack for public transit.
If you purchased the card, was it worth it to you and why? Or did you feel you would have perfered to pay individual entry fees at each museum/site?

If you haven't asked your question on the Slow Travel website, you might profitably do so. There are residents of Piemonte who post there, very knowledgeable about Torino and Piemonte tourism but who have no vested interest in promoting the card or any formula for travel. They would just want you to have an optimal experience of Piemonte based on your reasons for going there.
Fodorite tourists rarely spend any time in Torino, let alone 6 nights.

My friend and I got 3-day Torino+Piemonte cards when we were in Torino last October. The card itself covers museums and specialty transportation like the cog railway to Superga and the riverboat, but when you get the card, you're eligible to get a discounted three-day bus and tram pass for another six euros, which we did buy. It may be that even if you buy the five-day museum card, you'll be able to get the three-day bus-tram pass, if they don't have a five-day one. There's no need to buy the card in advance, so I would just go into a tourist office when you get there and see if you can get the five-day card plus the bus-tram pass.
We thought the card was great. We easily saved 20 to 30 euros in museum entries, and we did both the Superga railway and the boat ride (which you can use to get to the automobile museum). In retrospect, we probably should have bought the five-day card, since we were there for five days, and we ended up rushing to get to three museums on day three just to get them in before the cards expired.
Have fun in wonderful Torino!

Hi Marcy, Will your trip by just to Turin or will you take in other towns in Piemonte? We really enjoyed our time traveling there in Alba and surrounding small towns. If you are leaving Turin for some other parts of Piemonte will you drive or try to do things by public transport? If I can be of help I'll try to dig up my info on the area.

Hi Julie...
No, after a week in Torino we will be doing a wine tour with a small group tour company and staying in the Langhe area in near Dogliani. The tour company is owned/operated by the people we did cooking lessons with in Bologna, they do a limited number of group tours through-out Italy for 8-10 people. But if you have any Torino recommendations for the week we'll be there on our own, I'd love to hear them!

Sorry, can't help much. We did a day trip to Turin while we were staying in one of the smaller towns. Went to Eataly. Had lunch at one of the large cafes on the main square. It was not special but it was good and they had nice outdoor seating. Torino Ristaurante on the Piazza San Carlos. Hope you have a wonderful trip and a great wine tour.
