Trips from Edinburgh

Hi all,

What do you think of these 2 day trips from Edinburgh:

1 day I go to Perth and Dunkeld
1 day I go to Linlithgow and afternoon I go to Pebbles & Rosslyn Chapel.

Can these be done by trains/public transport? I will be based in Edinburgh. Any other ideas let me know. Note, that I will be visiting Glasgow and St. Andrews on other days.

Rosslyn - Number 15 Lothian Buses service from Princes Street (or George Street after July)

Linlithgow - train from Waverley or Haymarket

No I don't think that you can do all that in a day...you'd be pushed to do 2 of them really. Check out the bus and train times and see what you think....

So, how do you suggest to amend the above trips?

Peebles is in the Borders-- you really can't do much of a day trip there w/o renting a car. Well you could but the bus takes a bit over an hour each way, and if one visits Peebles, they'd also want to see Melrose, Dryburgh, etc. That would be a tough day trip by public transport. Just Peebles -- yes -- but are you sure you want to go just there?

Linlithgow; Rosslyn; and Perth/Dunkeld can each easily be done from Edinburgh -- as separate day trips, not all together

Ok so I will be focusing on Linlithgow on a day and Perth/Dunkeld on another day. Are they interesting places to visit? Can I go by bus from Perth to Dunkeld and back to Edinburgh? I ready that pert and Dunkeld are 3hrs apart, is it true?

If I had to go to Dundee for a day trip instead of Perth what do you think?

What do you suggest if I do morning I go to Linlithgow and afternoon I go to North Berwick. On another day I do a day trip to Dunkeld..still undecided so help is needed. I want to go somewhere no far from Edinburgh 1hr train no problem, that is nice to see and spend a good day there.
