trip suggestions

We will be flying into CDG in June. Our destination from the airport is Bayeaux in Normandy. We are considering going to Chantilly & then driving to Bayeaux. Friends have suggested going to Honfluer on the way to Bayeaux instead of Chantilly. Any suggestions on what options to consider?

I'm not sure what you're saying. Are you saying that after a trans Atlantic flight you arrive at CDG in the morning and then want to go to Chantilly or Honfleur and spend a night or more? Or are you saying you will be driving to Bayeaux that day and want to stop somewhere along the way to see things?

Having done a similar route last year, I think Les Andelys is a perfect place to stop for the first night. If you want a stop between the airport and Les Andelys, stop and visit the Monet house and gardens. June will be glorious.

Chantilly is about 25 miles north of Paris. Normandy is to the east. I think it's unreasonable to expect to fly into CDG, hop up to Chantilly, then zoomover to Honfleur, then on to Bayeux in one day. If that's what you're proposing - it's not clear to me, either.

Anyway, Chantilly andHonfleur are apples and organces. What appeals to you about each of them? At least Honfleur is "on the way to Normandy," which Chantilly is not.

sorry I wasn't clear. We arrive at 8 AM. We will rent a car @ go to Chantilly then drive to Bayeaux. It sounds like this might not be reasonable. We are just trying to take advantage of the time prior to Bayeaux as it is only a 4 hr drive from CDG

Is this after an all-night flight? If so, you might even be sorry you chose to drive just to Bayeux (note correct spelling). My limit after an all-night flight is 3 hours, and even that's a stretch. YMMV.

you want to drive 4 hours after getting off an overnight transatlantic flight? I sure wouldn't . . . . .

Oh, I thought Chantilly was just a consideration, didn't realize it was built into the itinerary.

Thanks to all for your responses. In the past I've had no trouble doing a full day of sightseeing after a trans Atlantic flight. I will drive to Bayeux after arriving. However I'll take everyones advice & skip Chantilly
