Back again for a quick look at Verona. The padlocks and heart-shaped gum lots of fun. Do you know the reason for that cable across the Adige? Hub and I pondered that.

TDudette, The photos were taken with a Sony DSC-HX100V which I got in December. I have been a bit disapointed with it. Particularly with how slow it is between photos.

The interior shots were taken in the "superior auto" mode. I that setting, the camera shoots burst images, then creates a composite of the burst images to correct the backlight and reduces the noise.

I'm not sure, but the cables might be there so they don't fasten them on the bridge itself. If you go to the Paris photos on the last page of the trip report, you will see how heavy the locks might get. http://mightymac.org/europe12/12europe55.htm

I'm interested in the shared taxi from the airport in Venice. How did you arrange this? Do you just indicate you are willing to share, and then you happened to be lucky and no one else was looking for a ride?

I went to the counter in the airport where you hire the water taxi and asked to book a shared one. The person behind the counter made a phone call, then charged us for the trip and gave us directions. We walked to the docks and the taxi left as soon as we boarded. We were lucjy, but I think getting one to your self may not be that rare.

Regarding the finearts site, I started with them last fall. So far about it has done has pay for itself and a little more. It does provide a community with forums and contests which is influencing my photography.

Hub and I were in Verona in 2001 and didn’t see any locks on the cables then. Also, there were poles dangling at intervals along the line. We wondered if they were to measure the tides.

Good grief, that pop-up restaurant on Milan’s Duomo roof was too much (in many ways). And such an interesting fresco at the end of Al Conte Ugolino's dinning room! It looked like movie stars a la Last Supper.

Well, at least you had a few hours in Paris. Super report and again, great photos.

I did not have a tripod along on this trip. I held as stedily as possible and used minimal zoom when taking the night photos. Sometimes I take advantage of being able to set the camera on somethign so it was steady.

Yes, that pop-up restaurant caught our eye first thing when we went to the Piazza del Duomo. We didn't learn what it was about until the next day.

TDudette, you didn't read the whole trip did you? That is the longest trip report I have ever done, ~500 photos.

I did read the report but will admit that I looked more closely at photos. Your TR is just like any of the trip diaries I did. Many of the same photos (especially in Verona) but your camera was so much better than the Sony Mavica I owned in 2001 (its film was floppy disks!)

I'm really in the market to upgrade my beloved Olympus C-765 Ultra zoom. Do have a Panasonic Lumix that I bought from a real photographer but it doesn't fit in my purse.

Other people's trips are very interesting and it's so much fun to revisit fun places virtually.
