Trip from Munich to Paris - may 2012

Hi,

I would like some advice on a trip I am planning. I have 13 days. I will arrive in Munich and finish the trip in Paris (travelling by car).

I definitely want to stay 5 days in Paris and 1-2 days in Munich and also get to know the castles Newchweinstein and Shwangau near Füssen.

What places would you suggest me to visit between Munich and Paris?

Thank you!

We made this drive several years ago, actually starting in Salzburg. We stopped for lunch in Ravensburg and then drove through the Black Forest across the border to Colmar in Alsace, France, where we spent the night. We spent the next morning exploring Colmar and then drove up the Route du Vin to Strasbourg. This is a beautiful area and we enjoyed stopping in the wine villages. We had lunch in Obernai.

We dropped our car in Strasbourg in the late afternoon and took the train to Paris.

Be sure to check on the drop charges from Germany to France---could be big.

Hi cru,

Be aware that there could be a very stiff fee for dropping off in another country.

What places would you suggest me to visit between Munich and Paris?<

How about stopping for 2 nights in Fuessen and visiting Neuschwanstein, Hohenshwangau and Linderhof?

We stayed at http://www.hotel-hechten.com/

Then 2 nights in Lindau.
We very much like the http://www.hotel-schreier.de/hotel/

Exit Lindau on the German side of the lake. Driving in Switzerland requires an expensive road pass.
Next stop, 2 nights in Strasbourg.
We liked http://www.hotel-gutenberg.com/uk/index.php

At this point, drop the car and take the train to Paris. You won't need a car there.

Enjoy your visit.

Thank you, everybody, I guess I will work on something like MUNICH (2-3 NIGHTS)
FÜSSEN (CASTLES) - 2 NIGHTS
COLMAR OR LINDAU - 2 NIGHTS
STRASBOURG - 2 NIGHTS
PARIS (TRAIN) - 5 NIGHTS.

Hi C,

>COLMAR OR LINDAU - 2 NIGHTS
STRASBOURG - 2 NIGHTS<

I don't recommend 2 nights in Colmar and 2 in Strasbourg.

If you wish to visit Alsace, stay in a small town and see the region.

On the way to Fussen don't miss the Wieskirche near Steingaden.
