Trenitalia website: How do I select the special promotion Florence to Venice & motorboat???
Hello, all,
I'm trying to book a train on the Trenitalia website. After much delay, I am successfully registered, and was able to get to the 10:39 train from SMN to VL, but I only have the option of full fare! The website shows a great promotion from Florence to Venice with a motorboat to take us to the hotel. It appears that I would only need to pay 12E for the motor boat, which seems like a good deal. I can't figure out the cost of the train, though...which is not the main problem...I can't even select that promotion for purchase! Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? <:-{

I believe the promotion for the motorboat is purchased on site in Venice, and you're eligible as long as you travel by Eurostar. Any special promotion (29E for first class) is sold out for the route, so only full price tickets are available.
You could also ask the just-as-wonderful people on slowtrav.com to clarify

Hi cy,
As noted, you get tickets for the motorboat at the Eurostar Club area at Venice's "Santa Lucia" railway station.
It drops you at San Marco.
It doesn't take you to your hotel.
The vaporetto makes the same trip for 5E.

Thanks for the suggestions!
Ira, when my sister & I took the train to Venice 3 years ago, we took a private boat to the dock for our hotel. Would that be a water taxi? I know it cost more than 5E. The nice thing about it was that we didn't have to try to crowd our bags in around everyone else. I can't remember how much it cost. Do you know anything about them?

Ooo...you took a water taxi. That's expensive if it's just you. If there are more of you together, then it's not too bad, and pretty convenient. I think it was about 50 euros, but for some reason, I want to say more. Anyway, we had no luggage, took a pass on the taxi, and got ourselves a day pass for unlimited rides on the vaporetto, which was heavenly for me.
If you don't have much luggage, go for the vaporetto.

Thanks for the replies. We're going to try to pack as little as possible, and I do know my way to the hotel (Hotel Flora, which isn't too far from San Marco) Do you know exactly where the 12E boat would be dropping off? (I kind of don't want to be schlepping my bags through the Piazza San Marco...)
