Just wanted to pass on the news that I just got our "paperless" tickets for our upcoming trip. As has been recommended here and other sites I got a Capital One Mastercard, alerted them last night that I would be making this purchase this morning and sure enough, it went through the first time without a problem! Mind you this is after nearly 10 tries with a VISA card issued by my credit union (where I had called security and all that.) The Trenitalia system does indeed have a preference right now for that particular brand of card. If you've not already registered with them I'd recommend that as a first step for getting tickets (or while you're waiting for the new credit card to arrive!) Thanks for all the help!
Trenitalia tickets - got them!

I got my tickets last night as well, Rome-Naples mini fare for 22 euro on the fast train. I have a Capital One Visa (no foreign fees), just make sure you call them first + let them know when you'll be visiting.
Hooray, Hooray.
A quick follow up - I got a call last night from Capital One to verify the charge, which seemed odd since I had notified them just before placing the charge. They also told me how much the charge converted to in dollars.
So, indeed Ira, Hooray! The mini fares were great!
