Hello.
I was able to purchase E9 one-wat tickets between Venice and Florence through Trenitalia's latest MIni fare promotion. I'd like to do the same thing between Rome and Venice but unfortunately am having no such luck for the date I need. I understand the concept of the Mini fare, but would like to know if Trenitalia makes additional Minis available if they see they still have plenty of seats available for particular routes as the date of departure approaches?
I have travelled by train throughout Italy but never before using a Mini fare ticket.
Thanks in advance.

QUESTION: "but would like to know if Trenitalia makes additional Minis available if they see they still have plenty of seats available for particular routes as the date of departure approaches?"
ANSWER: This is an extremely good question. Unfortunately, the only people who know the answer are the Trenitalia schedule programmers and anybody else who has "inside information" learned through word-of-mouth. There is one way to check: monitor the availability (and the cost) of "MINI" fare seats on one or more Trenitalia fast trains over a period of many weeks, and see whether "MINI" fares reappear or fall in price. I've never done this (don't plan to do it), buy maybe someone else has enough curiosity to try!
Another method might be to ask several Trenitalia customer assistance agents in Italy (and I bet that many won't know either).
Thanks for your insight, GAC.
