Travelling with an infant...no I.D?

We're planning to take a tour to Paris from Germany with our daughter. She's 3 wks old and her passport and other identification are still processing...we're wondering if it's okay to travel with her or is there any type of identification we can use? birth certificate are still pending as well...pls advice. Thank you!

If you mean you're going from Germany to Paris - they're both Schengen and I doubt if anyone will ever ask to see your passport - except checking in at a hotel.

But I'm not sure what you mean by "tour". Do you just mean a trip? Or are you talking about an organized tour group - which is very unlikely to allow an infant?

Hi
No we're not joining any group tours however once we get there I wonder if they'll allow us joining a group tour i.e walking or bus tour.

I would ask the only qualified body to answer your question : the nearest French consulate or the French embassy.

Don't know what French embassy/consulate will advise but I personally would not travel without a certified copy of your child's birth certificate.

I am not sure that I would tour with a three week old baby.

you must have some type of hospital report or COPY of something you used to register the baby. The consulate of your birth country will inform you correctly. I assume this is a car trip.. no flights.

Talk to your baby's doctor before taking such a young baby on a trip.

Against my better judgment I'm chiming in here, but feel need to say that here in USA pediatricians generally recommend avoiding exposing infants to large groups until they have had at least their first round of inoculations, at around 6 weeks of age.

Agree that a 3 week old is too young for this type of vacation - but I'm sure you've already checked with your pediatrician and had it ok'd. Very few tours are going to allow you to bring an infant along - most don;t want children under the age of 10 - for very obvious reasons. And I can;t think the baby would be happy about it.

We took our month-old baby to France from Belgium before her passport had been issued. I did, however, carry a copy of her birth certificate with me just in case. I don't think I'd have been comfortable travelling with no form of ID for her at all. So I'd take whatever papers you have for her.

I checked with the paediatrician first and he said go ahead, why not. It won't be any different than taking your baby out and about (for walks etc) when you are at home. (I'd already taken her on public transport, etc. by this point!)

However, that was our specific case - I'd advise you to check with your baby's doctor as he/she knows your baby's history and can give you the right advice for you.

I think you can do "Paris Walks" tours with a baby in a pack (no stroller) Give them a call. You could probably do the hop on hop off buses too.
