Hello!
I am travelling to Slovenia at the end of September with my husband and my daughter-age 10. We are planing to stay in Maribor for 3 days. We are mostly interested in cultural sights and some outdoor activities. Nothing to extreme. Maby some biking and hiking. Is it possible to rent a bike anywhere? What are the most interesting sights that we should see? Can anyone tell me more about it?
Thanks for your help!

Hello PolyP!

It´s wonderful that you are coming to Maribor. This is my town and I gotta tell you it´s amazing! Despite its size (it has approximate 200.000 inhabitants)you are at the same time able to do a sightseeing tour and go for example on a hiking and biking trip. It is indeed possible to rent a bike at the Tourist information centre (TIC), which is in town core near Frančiškanska church. Here is their web page about cycling routs in Maribor: http://www.maribor-pohorje.si/default.aspx?str=62&jezik=2&stran=9
About the most interesting sights- you can hire a tourist gudie or you can go around the city by yourself. Depends on your whishes and financial state. And here´s another link about things you mustn´t miss in Mariobr: http://www.maribor-pohorje.si/default.aspx?stran=priporocamo&str=284&id_pod=18&jezik=2
Enjoy your stay here and give me feedback about your trip!
Love, Pero
Hello Pero!
Thanks for all the information you gave me. I have just returned from my trip to Maribor and i must say i loved it. My daughter enjoyed the activities on Pohorje and i just loved the city centre. We were there during the festival of the old vine and there was a lot going on. The people were very nice, we had no problems communicating,as almost everybody speeks english.
We will dfinitely come back.
Love, Poly
