traveling with 2 kids!

I am flying in a week with my 3 year old and my 16 month old to Poland, by myself! Crazy I know. Couldn't affort to buy a seat for the baby...any suggestions on how to keep everyone comfortable? We are going on an overnight flight that leaves Chicago at 10pm, so I'm hoping we will all sleep through the flight. We are flying LOT airlines. Does anyone have any experience with the bassinets they offer?
Thanks!

Although I've not used the bassinets on LOT, most airplane bassinets are designed to hold infants up to 20 pounds (some much less). I would imagine your sixteen month old weighs more than 20 pounds. Do you have a bulkhead seat already reserved? If not, get to O'Hare early to request one. If the flight isn't full, which is unlikely in the summer, you may get lucky and have the agent seat you next to an empty seat.

I would contact the airline direct with your bassinet question.

If the arm of the seat between you and the 3 year old is the kind that can be lifted, that might give you a little extra room (so the 3 of you can share the 2 seats).

I'm no expert but am guessing you'd want their own blankets and soft toys for both kids. Something to make it most seem like "bedtime" at home since you're hoping you will all sleep.

LOT is one of the better airlines to fly with kids ... ask for middle rows you can make seat reservation over phone - and describe the situation so operator can "lock" seat next to you (middle row has 3 seats) ... at the airport do same ... if plane is super packed talk and locked seat is taken and you do not have room then talk to plane personel very early before taking off and they will find something ...

You will be fine. I have travelled many times overseas with similar aged children without my husband. My little ones always slept better on the overnight portion in a car seat. I don't know if you can do that since you didn't buy the baby a seat, but perhaps you can try and see if they have an extra seat. I gate check a stroller and wear one car seat on my back and clip the other to the handlebars of the stroller to get myself through the airport. I always travel with a portable DVD player, which will be no use to the baby but the 3 year old may be entertained. I also bring paint with water books and brushes, coloring, little toys (like the mini my little ponies, cars, etc.), books, for the day time flight. Sippy cup so they don't spill. Plus extra clothes for everyone in case of spills.
