traveling to stockholm with four kids (11)

Hi, Im traveling in late june to Sweden with four kids (11)in our way to a summer camp in Linkoping, we will have four days to spend in Stockholm before the camp, Im asking for advice about where to stay and what to do. We will need an accommodation for 5 , in the same room or apartment?, and where in the city?

Can't help with lodging for 5 - but for others to help you really need to give a nightly budget.

To see/do:

Skansen (outdoor recreation of rural Swedish life with typical buildings and shops/services with docents recreating activities, along with a zoo of typical animals)

Vasa ship museum

Old Town with palace and changing of the guuard

Boat tour out into the aruchipelago - per haps including Drottingholm (summer palace in the island)

Town Halls (gorgeous) where Nobel prizes are awarded

Just views of the city, water, island are incredible - a beautiful city

Several specialist museums - have kids look online to see if they are interested in any about vikings, etc

Have you tried Airbnb? https://www.airbnb.com/s/Stockholm--...s_tag=5YcKoFix Finding a hotel for that many in a single room might be a challenge. With an apartment you might find your costs might be less than multiple hotel rooms, and it might give the kids more room. Stuck in small hotel rooms with four 11 year old kids and without a washing machine could be a bit of a challenge, if you haven't realized that before.

I just reread your post and realize you will be travelling in June. I suggest you get moving, as many suitable places will have already booked by now. Also, it is difficult to help you more specifically without knowing what your budget might be. If you follow my suggestion about exploring Airbnb, be sure to click on the "More Filters" button. That will allow you to input budget, number of beds. bathrooms, etc.

Best of luck in your search.

It's not a hotel I usually recommend because I don't like it myself but you may want to look at Villa Källhagen in Djurgården if you want a garden.

Airbnb is a very good idea, but keep in mind that the chances that the apartment is being rented out "illegally" are high. Most buildings downtown don't allow apartment owners or tenants to rent out their apartment short-term. With 4 kids make sure they don't run around in the apartment or you may get into trouble (or rather the owner of the apartment will get into trouble). The acoustics in Swedish apartments are terrible.

Concerning attractions, kids usually enjoy this tour: http://www.oceanbus.se/en/home
It's a combined bus/boat. And of course Skansen, the Vasa Museum and Junibacken http://www.junibacken.se/lang/english
