My son and several of his class mates are traveling to Greece and Turkey they would love to meet other teens. they will arrive late December. Beside the customary tip are there trinkets/candies from the U.S. that their hosts or teens they meet might enjoy? Also what are some food souvenirs he can bring back for family we are all great cooks.
Are there high school for teens with high functioning autism or Aspergers Syndrome?

hospitalityclub.org good site for this.
Sports club caps Tshirts cheap from the US
pack well and work every where futbol and baseball best
basketball teams work but USfootball not so much
I know that there are some schools for autistic teens, but do not know about them unfortunately.
just their school t-sjhirts, jerseys, caps would go well also.
They can bring back spices and freash herbs, like hot red pepper flakes (diffeent types available), turmeric (recommended against many health problems), bay leaves (usually very freshly picked), fenugreek (beware the all pervading smell, but delicious) mace (use in small quantities),cardamom powder, cloves and powdered cloves, stick cinnamon. The best place to pick these is The Spice Bazaar at Eminonu (The Egyptian Market). We buy ours at a shop called "Ucuzcular." Also just outside and across the western gate of the Spice bazaar is the traditional and best Turkish coffee shop, "Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi", with lots of shops and stalls selling the Turkish coffee making small steel pots (the traditional copper is no longer well-made) just outside the Southern gate.
they can also bring you some special hard wood (light yellowish) wooden spoons available on the narrow street of the coffee shop, where they can also get some excellent pistacchios and hazelnuts.
Turkish white goat or sheep's cheese is excellent. They should get the "Ezine" type. Vacuum packed 20-30 onz packs should be OK at US customs. (not in or just outside the Spice bazaar) Best will be at Karakoy, at "Namli" next to the world famous Karakoy baklava store, which they should also bring you. (the hard baklava without the syrup visible, because it lasts longer and can be warmed if the sugar has congealed)
They should bring back Greek honey which has an herbal scent. And Cretan Olive Oil is fantastic.
