Traveling from Venice Airport during Festa del Redentore

Due to circumstances, we can only arrive in Venice on the Sunday of the festival. Unfortunately missing the fireworks that Saturday night. We will be arriving around 11:00 am (no baggage, just carry-ons). Do I need to book in advance my water taxi (after researching, we decided to do the water taxi over the other options, the taxi will go right up to our door and there are 6 of us including parents), or can I walk up to the counter and just book at the airport in light of the festival? Will we have a difficult time with water taxis if the boat regattas are taking place that Sunday? Anyone have any experience arriving in Venice during a festival? Much appreciated!

Also, I've read that the regattas take place in the afternoon but have no idea when. I was thinking we would hopefully be checking in by 12:30, have lunch and still be able to see the regattas after lunch-hopefully it will still be going on or starting after 3? Will we be able to see it from the main island? Nothing else planned for that day, just trying to stay up until its bedtime to reduce jet lag.
