Hi,
My parents will be in Rome and are leaving to go to Pompei on a tour bus. They want to stay in Rome to see the Pope and catch up to their tour later in the day. They think it will be easy. I am trying to find out the distance between cities and the public transportation that is available. Are there plenty of options or will they be caught in Rome with no easy way to catch up to their tour. I'd like to help them.
Thanks!!!

Hi
I believe it's about 3 hours from Rome to Pompeii Scavi, and that requires a change of trains in Naples. With significant luggage this will not be easy. I suppose if money is not an issue they could hire a car and driver. Also, will they have a certain idea of where in Pompeii the tour bus will be ( I mean, literally on which corner of what street), exactly what time it's leaving, etc?
I suppose this could be an adventure, but it could also turn out to be like an I Love Lucy episode, with less humor.
Depends on their personal resouces, and I don't mean money. What would the alternative be if they can't catch up with the bus in Pompeii?--they will definitely want a plan B, I would think.
