traveling Bath to Dingle

I'm looking for suggestions for traveling from Bath,England to the Dingle peninsula this August. I like the idea of taking the train to a ferry. Then again, being there is probably better than getting there, perhaps flying is the way to go. Any thoughts, suggestions?

Hi dfok,

You would need to take a train or bus to either Fishgard or Hollyhead, take the ferry to Rosslaire and then take either bus or train, or both to Dingle.

IMO it would be very expensive and very very long.

I would take a flight www.ryamair.com from Bristol to Shannon and take a bus from there to where you want to go to on the Dingle peninsula.

A less stressful train/ferry combination is the train to Swansea and the overnight ferry to Cork.

Trains from Bath to Swansea are civilised and fast (it's the 100 or so miles on to Fishguard where they now run slower, it's alleged, than in Victorian times): the Swansea ferry gives you a proper cabin and takes you into central Cork, saving another 100 miles through Wexford. Means you miss New Ross, home of the world's finest ancestors, but otherwise little of real note.
