Travel to London at early November

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to London in early November. looking for places that should be good to visit within 2 weeks?
1) Will driving be worth it at this time frame, say if I want to start from London, onto Scotland, Cambridge, Oxford, etc. Is it safe to drive at this time, how's the road condition?

2) Would it be worth to visit Zurich and nearby places than take Eurostar back to London? Will I be able to visit the Kapellbrucke (Chapel Bridge)?

3) Not planning to visit any museum this time, looking forward for more nature sightseeing.

My main concern is weather and if there's enough daylight to do much sightseeing?

Thanks,

Your inquiry says a trip to London but your questions seem to indicate other places instead, or also. Would you like to clarify a bit please? It's not really possible to give useful and concise answers otherwise.

London is not known for it's natural beauty - as wonderful as it is.

And in November the weather any place in europe is likely to be chilly/cold, can often be dreary, rainy, drizzly, days are short and trees leafless, no flowers etc.

Not sure why one would go in November for scenery.

And you really need to decide what you want to see do. You are talking as if zurich is an hour from London - and I believe have misplaced the Kapellbrucke - which is in Lucerne -not Zurich.

Which countries and sights are you interested in?

And renting a car for a single person (or are you traveling with others) usually doesn;t make a lot of sense.

What are your must sees? And how many days do you actually have on the ground (do NOT count the day you arrive or depart).

No problem driving in the UK, but it gets dark early, especially in the North, and count on rain.
Scotland is a long way by car, check the distances on via michelin or mappy. It's faster and more comfortable to do this by train - then rent a car in Scotland.

Eurostar goes from London to Paris or Brussels. London to Zurich would be easier and a lot faster by plane.

November can be a great time to visit places like London and York and Paris and maybe Edinburgh.

But for driving around the countryside for scenery/natural beauty - not so much. I love the UK in late fall and winter even, but I generally save my touring around by car/getting out into nature for April-October-ish and stick to cities pretty much in the winter. The weather could be OK or really nasty -- or both. And the countryside definitely won't be at its best

I'd maybe get a guidebook or two and see what more urban sites might interest you.

If you want to do outdoorsy things, can you possibly delay your trip til next Spring?

When I lived in England I did do a lot of walking in the fall/winter . . . but I had the advantage that if the weather was nasty I could always change plans go out another time. When one is on holiday there usually isn't that option.
