Travel Purse Suggestions....HELP!!!

I can't for the life of me decide on a "travel" purse to carry while on my trip in Paris. Can't decide between Baggallini, Hobo International, Kipling's....

Does anyone have a favorite that they use???

I would like it to have:

-strap so I can wear across body
-zippered closing
-big enough for small digital camera (Canon PowerShot S410), small journal, Streetwise map, sunglasses, and my credit card & ATM.

You don't mention price.
I carry my Longchamp bag that I got in Paris ages ago. It has outside pockets that snap, a flap in the back, inside pockets that zip..it is microfiber and leather..with an ajustable strap, so it goes across my chest or I can shorten it and carry it like a handle.
Maps, books, wallet, camera, Purel, kleenex, phone, make up, keys , the kitchen sink, all fit just fine inside. Oh yes, including a pair of sunglasses and reading glasses or cases.

Thanks Scarlett--

Price is not an issue....well, resonably...if I find the right bag. What "model" is yours....for lack of a better word?

I seem to remember it being called a Sports something, it was in Paris and I was torn between two bags..so I am not positive .. the shop off the Blvd St Germain is where I got it, if you wanted to wait and buy. I always got such good prices compared to the US stores, but now with the Euro/USD, sigh~

Mine is a Prada but i've passed it on to my husband because my arthritic fingers find the buckle too dificult. The only bag that is good is whatever holds what you want to carry and easy to access. I bought a bag at CDG not expensive called trektonia. It's black has two out side pockets(one zippered and another zippered one on the outside flap, one side zipper small pocket
a zipper mesh one inside flap abnd three others inside in front of the main zippered part and only 10x8

I got this shoulder bag from QVC for my recent trip to London and it worked out great. It's a hands-free bag that lays flat against your stomach and has lots of room for everything (including a camera and a bottle of water.

Here's the info. The url is really long - so go to qvc.com and search for the item number.

Item Number F8399
Travelon Large Travel Shoulder Bag

Retail Value $37.50
QVC Price $23.87
Shipping and Handling $4.47

Have bag, will travel. Sling this Travelon bag over your shoulder and hit the road! Its stylish, hands-free design is great for trips or everyday use. The lightweight, durable, black microfiber shell looks sleek and is outfitted with a rear zip pocket, an adjustable shoulder strap, and a front flap panel with a zip pocket on top. Its front flap opens via magnetic snap closure to reveal an underside mesh zipper pocket. The gusseted front organizer supplies an ID window, passport and ticket slides, card and cell phone slides, and a mesh zip pocket. Its fully lined, roomy interior offers two additional slide pockets and a rear mesh pocket.

Measures 10" x 9-1/2" x 3".

I just bought a small bag big enough for a book/journal, map, camara, etc. from an Eddie Bauer outlet for $20. Maybe they would have something online...

That looks great kayb95!!

OK...this may be a silly question...but I can't get a sense from the website. Does it come with a strap and can you wear it diagonally across your body?

I have a Bill Blass black light weight leather shoulder bag that sounds very similar to what Scarlett has. I do not use it on a day to day basis but it is perfect for travel.

I have a black leather Hobo bag I have had for years that is great for day to day use and also for traveling.

I too insist that a bag zippers shut, I do not like bags where someone can take out something easily because they just have at the most a snap with both ends being open.

Yes, it has an adjustable strap that you can't see in the picture. It's designed to wear across your body. I really liked the bag for traveling.

I had basically the same question and there are some good suggestions if you search for travel handbags under general.

I got my favorite from my daughter in law for Christmas many years ago. Found it at Travelsmith. Can't find anymore but Hands-Off Handbag® Microfiber Large is close. Mine doesn't narrow at the top. I like it so much I have to keep myself from using it everyday. It will wear out. Is expandable. It is all microfiber, very light & rolls up to nothing. I know, not helpful if not available.

Look at the better back bag by Ameribag (Ameribag.com). I have a couple of these and they are great. Weight is distributed on your back (no sore shoulders). They hold as much as a backpack and have the advantages, but look more professional and are allowed places that backpacks are not (eg, museums). Also, the zipper is inside, next to your body and you can wear it across your body if you want.
