Travel itinerary advice 2 wks Tuscany-Bologna-Varenna

Jump to last reply

Everyone has been so helpful on this forum and for that I thank you. I would like to post my itinerary because I have a tendency of doing to much. I think I have the first week figured out, that''s easy since we are staying and an Agriturismo in the Pienza area, but the second week, there maybe too much running around. Here it is.

Friday; -Arrive in Rome from the states 6:30am
Rent a car and drive to Orvieto, tour the area, maybe underground caves.
Friday night, -sleep in Orvieto
Saturday -Drive to Agriturismo in Pienza
Sunday to Saturday
-Tour the area including Siena, Montipuciano, Montacino (maybe make it up to San G or Volterra, Cooking class one afternoon nearby.
Saturday - Drive to Arezzo, tour the city, maybe stop at a vineyard north the city, continue to drive to the Bologna airport. Drop off the car.
Saturday thru Tuesday
-Sleep in Bologna, tour the area perhaps a food tour on Monday.
Tuesday - Train to Varenna, maybe stopping in Parma for lunch and look around
Tuesday night through Thursday
- Sleep in Varenna, Wednesday tour Belliagio, Thursday morning, local something.,, Thursday night, travel to airport hotel. dinner?
Thursday night - airport hotel
Flight out Friday morning 10:30a back to the states.

I am getting a bit concerned about not seeing more in the Bologna area. ie. Parma, Modena, Ravenna? But I think it would be nice to end the trip in the Lake Region.
Ah, so much to see. As my daughter says, first world problems, it's a good thing.
Any thoughts on the itinerary are appreciated. thanks
