Flaça is 20 km from L'Estartit and there are taxis at the station. From Barcelona airport, take the Renfe train to
to Barcelona Sants station. See www.renfe.es for timetable
Take a train to Flaça and a taxi to L'Estartit

Or

Take the Renfe train above to Sants station
Take a train to Girona
Take a bus from Girona to L'Estartit - see
http://www.ampsa.org/eng/serveis_regulars.html for timetable.

It depends on the train : around €10 from Barcelona to Girona on a regional train, €20 on an express train. Less for children depending on their age.

Barcelona to Girona is a short journey (90 km). It is not worth paying twice as much for an express train - unless there is one waiting for you by the time you make it to Sants station

I'd hire a car and drive. There are several transfers involved, and timetables don't necessarily co-ordinate. You may be kept waiting 1-2 hours at Girona station for the bus to the coast, for example. With tired, fractious children and luggage and the heat, that's not a good start to your holiday. And a hire car will be really handy for getting around Costa Brava, and you have an easy drive back to the airport.

I was wondering if you could tell me how you got on please? And do you have any tips? I am travelling with my husband and 4 children, we are landing at Barcelona and need to get to Castell Mongri in Estartit, what would you recommend and what sort of costs are involved, many thanks
