Hello Fodor's Friends,
I am a 31yr old IT professional looking to take my first trip to Europe. My girlfriend & I will be traveling to Bucharest Romania to visit her family either in late Aug or late Sept. We are highly considering Aug because our best friends have a Villa in Mykonos for the last week of Aug to wrap up the summer on a great note.
My challenge has been I am on a tight budget and it seems very expensive to make the trip to the Island during the last week of Aug.
Are there any tips you may have to book affordable travel from Romania to Greece?
Also I do not know too much about the rails and other transportation methods. If I should be considering anything other than flights please advise.
Thank you very much!!
Rob

Rob,

There is no rail connection between Greece and Romania, since the Greek Railways stopped all international trains 2 years ago, due to the crisis.
There are busses between Romania and Greece serving romanian immigrants and this would be the cheapest way to reach Greece.
However i am not sure if this will be a nice experience, considering also the duration of such a trip....
Flying to Athens and then taking the ferry to Mykonos seems to be the fastest and most convenient option i think
