Transportation from Cesky Krumlov to Budapest and small town to visit

Hey everyone! I am planning my second trip to the central Europe this autumn. Last time I had a fabulous time in Cesky Krumlov and would love to visit it again. But I remembered there's no direct transportation (either by bus or train) from CK to Budapest. So last time I returned Prague to get a train to Budapest and that's really inconvenient.

So I wondered if there is any suggestions about the transportation? I cannot considering rent a car because I have a tight budget. Also, any one has good recommendations about other charming small towns like Ck to visit in Czech?
