Transport from Belfast to Larne

We are visiting Dublin for 5 days.
We want to take the ferry from Larne to Stranraer to start our travel in Scotland. on Thursday the 31 st of March

What is the best transport to use from Dublin. We want to leave early.

WHere do you buy tickets and what is the cost.

Thank you so much for answering Laetitia from South Africa

There are no ferries from Larne to Stranraer. Stena Line (www.stenaline.co.uk) runs from Belfast to Stranraer, while P&O Ferries (www.poferries.com) go from Larne to Cairnryan.
From Dublin, there are trains to Belfast which take two hours. There are trains from Belfast to Larne. Stena's terminal in Belfast is a long way from the city centre. For train services, see www.irishrail.ie and www.translink.co.uk.
On the Scottish side, there are trains from Stranraer, but you need to catch a bus from Cairnryan.

How does one get from the place where the bus stops to the the place one can board the ferrie to Stranraer?
Sorry for stupid questions, but websites not so clear if you do not know the country, Thanks

Stena Line's website has details of local buses from the centre of Belfast to their ferry terminal.
There are also through buses from Belfast to Glasgow and Edinburgh (www.citylink.co.uk).

There is also a P&O ferry from Larne to Troon further north than Stranraer. This requires a taxi to Troon station for train to Glasgow.
My preferred route is train Dublin/Belfast - taxi to Stena Dock and HSS FERRY to Stranraer - 2 or 3 a day - which connect with train to Glasgow Central.
The ferry is so pleasant I never want to get off... adding to self-indulgence by lashing out on "Club Class"!
