Our experience is that many of the Greek Islands have limited taxis available. I would take the hotel's advice.

The normal fare from the airport to Oia is 20-25 Euro one way. It's true that there are limited taxis at the airport for any particular arrival, but you can 'beat the system' by one of you going outside immediately to secure one of them while one of you collects the bags inside. The 70 Euro your hotel is quoting is high, but will also include transporting your bags to your room. Which hotel is it?

I paid 30 euros for a one way taxi ride from the airport to Oia- I don't think your quote is too unreasonable. It is true that finding a taxi in Oia can be difficult...I would take the hotel transfer.

Make sure that the fare includes bringing your bags to your room so you don't need to carry them up and down the ever-present stairs!

You can have the driver call ahead to your hotel (bring the phone number with you) to inform them of your arrival so someone can meet you at a pre-designated drop-off location.

Brother...Please help me if I am reading the links you provided correctly. The a2btransfers do not seem at all competitive to the €50 roundtrip private transfer offered by the property. As I read it, a2b's roundtrip price is €125.

And as I read the second link, it appears this is a shared shuttle that makes several stops before it arrives at Oia.

A2B is a broker based in Ireland....
Their prices are usually much higher compared to what you can find in Greece.
I would take the € 50 offer, which i find to be a good price for such a transfer.

Forgot to add, gas prices in Greece increased at 100% compared to 2007.......

A2B offers both a shuttle transfer and a private taxi transfer. Try a trial booking. The shuttle fare is about the same as what the hotel has offered.

In fact, many of the hotels offering a transfer simply book with one of the shuttel services.
