Transfer at Heathrow

We are travelling Manchester to Delhi via Heathrow in October.
The Manchester to LHR is with BMI and the LHR to Delhi is with Jet Airways.
I understand that we will not be through ticketed and that we will have to collect our luggage at Terminal 1 and transfer to Terminal 3, where we will check in with Jet.
We are due to arrive at LHR at 18:10 and our Jet flight leaves at 20:45.
Can anybody advise if we have to go through security prior to check in with Jet and if we have enough transfer time.
Any advise on the best way to transfer terminals will be welcome.

Dave

Clearly any info on LHR during the present crisis is useless. Normally the transfer is pretty easy. The terminals are relatively close (Not talking Atlanta here) and tunnels link. Yes you will have to go through security, hoepfully the present stuff will have died down by then so no issues.

Terminal 3 is a bit odd as it can heave with large multibaggaged families going to/from UK/Sub-continent so be aware of getting in the right queues.

I think it is worth finding out how often these flights leave on time?

As bilboburgler says, the security situation at LHR could change a lot between now an October.

As things are right now, 2 hr 35 min is likely not enough time. But if things get back to "normal" it would be fine. I'd wait a bit - like maybe early sept - see how the things evolve and then I might consider going to London the day before (or much earlier the same day). You could fly or take the train down to London. Right now things are still too new to know for sure.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
I understand the present situation is far from normal and will check how things develop.
My question was however related to the normal process of transfer from Terminal 1 to 3.
After Baggage Reclaim in Terminal 1 can we transfer to Check In at 3 without passing through security checks ie is the security after check in at 3 and how long is the transfer.

Thanks

Dave

I think you have to go through security again. The transfer from one terminal to another can take some time, I know we were told a minimum of 75 minutes from Terminal 4 to Terminal 2 and often the walk to the gate is quite a long ways. I'm a little scewed on this because my SIL has very bad arthritis and my brother had ordered a wheel chair for her to save all the walking..and there would have been a LOT, so we were kind of whisked through everything but I know there was a security line..we got to cut in front of it...and it was quite long at the time. Oridinarily I would say you have enough time but with new proceedures and the time of day etc. it's hard to say. I'm sure by October that they will have things running smoother and also get a better handle on what is allowed in carryons etc. So best of luck and hope you have a smooth transfer.

You always have to go thru security when changing terminals. Since you are collecting luggage, you actually have to exit the arrivals area, go to the Jet Airways departures desk to collect your boarding pass and recheck your luggage. You then go thru the departures security of terminal 3.

Under usual circumstances, it is doable with 2.5 hrs. But who knows what will be happening in October?
