Train vs Airplane to Nice, France

Going to be traveling from Evian-les-Bains to Nice. Have a choice of plane which takes slightly over 1 hr but have to go to GVA to catch the plane (bout 1 hr away). Have to check in at least 1 hr ahead and will have checked luggage. So extra time getting out of NCE and 45 min into central Nice.

Train with 1 connection, taking a total of 8hrs. Train leaves from central Evian-les-Bains and goes into Nice Ville station. Hotel is near the Promenade.

Prices are almost identical.

Opinions please of whether traveling by train vs plane would be better!

Thanks

I'd take the plane. And there's no way unless you hit really severe traffic, that the trip from the airport takes 45 minutes into central Nice. It's a very short drive.

I agree on taking a plane. The Nice airport is very close to downtown. Maybe 15-20 minutes and very easy.

It's a long train trip; take the plane.

I woulld definitely take the train - you will see some pretty scenery and it will be way more comfortable.

I think it depends on how much of the countryside you wish to see. The train is a better choice for this. I have always felt train travel in Europe is easy, enjoyable and efficient. However, it does sound like there would be a bit more time involved for you to take a train. Time or scenery, it is your choice.
