train or plain within spain

I'm traveling into Barcelona in one week, and we are considering going to Sevilla and madrid as well. There are three of us and I am confused about the diferent classes and how much it costs to get a bed on the renfe trains. Does a hotel train with preferential class come with a bed? What are the different rooms/beds like. We are thinking of doing the long distances at night. Another idea would be to take the plane on those long distances. Any sugestions on airlines? please help QUICK! thanks.

I took a train from Seville to Barcelona and back. I was just in a standard seat where there was 6 people to a cabin. No beds - I'm sure you can get them, I think they're just more expensive. The only advice I have looking back on my trip, is that while the trains do have food cars - they close at night. So if you are getting on a train from Barc. to Seville (~12 hours) bring lots of food. We thought we didn't need it b/c we'd be sleeping but we were starving and awake with no food and had to eat some old guy's sandwhich that he shared with us. Something I would never have done otherwise ;-)

Take the ave train (the super fast one) that goes between Madrid and Seville.

So, I guess it'd work out well to take the train between those two cities and possibly fly to Barcelona if you don't want a 12 hour train ride.

(And whatever you do, never take a bus between Madrid and Seville! unless you don't mind having your knees against the seat in front of you for 6 hours with one pit stop. And the bus has smoking in the rear. )
